The better the seasoning of a pan, better the Non-Stick property of the pan. Cast Iron products tend to get better with time & usage as the seasoning layer keeps getting better with every subsequent use.

If food is sticking to your pan, it only means that you need to season the pan a little more & then use it with adequate amount of oil required for a wonderful cooking experience. We hope this helps!

My pan is rusting, How do I restore it?

The Meyer Cast iron pans are made from pure iron ore. It is very normal for it to rust in case it is in contact with water/moisture. Any cast iron pan becomes immune to rusting if it is properly seasoned. The Meyer Cast Iron range comes pre-seasoned with 100% Vegetable Oil but it needs to be seasoned regularly in order to keep it immune to rusting.

Cleaning Tips & Techniques

Whether your cast iron cookware is rusty or in a very bad state, you will be happy to know that you can restore it anytime with some proper cleaning tips! Please note that though cast iron is easy to clean, it is also susceptible to rusting if you don’t adhere to the right ways!
Follow these steps to keep your cast iron clean, rust-free and well-seasoned:

Use a non-metallic/plastic scrubber. Wash with mild dish soap, rinse well and dry with a clean towel. Season it either on a cooktop or oven

For light rusting: Salt-scrub technique
Put the pan in a sink, fill about ½ inch of warm water, then add a half cup of coarse salt (the salt will act as an abrasive to cut through food remnants). Immediately scrub the pan with a nylon scouring pad. Rinse the pan clean with water, then place the pan in a 350-degree oven for 10 minutes or so until it’s completely dry (to prevent rusting). You can also put it in a stovetop over high heat till it doesn’t smoulder.
Remove it from the oven/stovetop and allow it to cool slightly. Then while the pan is still warm, sprinkle a little vegetable oil. Wipe the oil with a paper towel, wait for a minute or two and wipe it again to remove any remaining oil.

For Heavily rusted pan:
Put the pan in a sink filled with hot, soapy water, then scrub it with a steel-wool pad or a metal scrubber. Wait 10 minutes or so, then scrub off the rust with steel wool and soapy water. Rinse the pan in clean water, dry it in an oven or stovetop, then wipe it down with oil.

Things to remember:

  • Please use metal scouring pads only to restore a rusted piece. Always use a gentle scrub to clean the cast iron cookware.
  • You should avoid soaking a cast iron cookware or using strong detergents. If residue remains after cleaning, reheat the pan and use a silicone scraper to remove it.
  • To avoid rusting, dry immediately and rub with oil. You can either place it in a warm oven or on a stovetop (at moderate heat) to help it absorb the oil.
  • Never put it in the dishwasher.
  • Avoid cooking acidic food like tomato sauce from start to finish as it might damage the seasoning.
  • Last but not least, store the cookware in a dry place so that it doesn’t gather moisture and rust.

We hope this helps!

Does it have any coating? / Do I need to season it again? If yes, How often?

Meyer Cast Iron pans are absolutely free from enamel & any other coating. They are pre-seasoned with 100% Vegetable Oil & are 100% Safe for You & Safe for Your Family.

Cast Iron pans tend to rust because it is the property of iron to rust when it comes in contact with water & air. To prevent the rusting one needs to season the pan.  The seasoning process is not very difficult, check out this video to see it for yourself: http://bit.ly/seasoningcastiron. Or scan this QR code to see the video.

Before first use, the pan needs to be seasoned properly. Watch the video above & follow the steps 3-4 times to get a good layer of Patina (oil deposit) on top of the pre-seasoned layer of oil. Once done you’ll need to do this full procedure around once a month depending on your usage. Whenever you wash the pan with soap, you will need to re-season it once and wipe it clean before storing it back. We hope this helps!

Will it break if it falls?

Cast Iron pans are brittle by nature which means that they may break if they fall on the ground not only damaging the pan but also damaging whatever it falls on.

We urge our customers to always be very careful while handling cast iron cookware since it is heavy & brittle. The handles tend to get hot because they are made of iron due to the cast nature of the pan. That is why we provide a grippy handle cover inside the box for all handles made out of canvas. The handles may still get hot over prolonged intervals usage, but it sure does make it a whole lot easier to handle your cast iron cookware easily in daily kitchen usage. We hope this helps!

My cast iron pan fell & broke, can it be replaced?

We’re so sorry to hear about this but we have to inform you that accidental damage doesn’t qualify for refund or replacement. If your pan was damaged in shipping the same is to be reported back to us within 24 hours of the product being delivered. No damaged during shipping cases shall be entertained after 24 hours of you receiving the product. We hope this helps!

Why is it so heavy? /  Is it pure Iron? / Will it take more time to cook/get heated?

Iron as a metal is quite heavy & it is the heaviest in its purest form. Meyer Cast Iron pans are made of pure iron ore thus they are heavy moreover, the heavier the pan, the better the heat retention as there is more metal to heat & thus better heat spread across the pan once properly heated.
Some manufacturers mix other materials to make pans a little lighter but we don’t do that because it affects the quality of the surface of the pan thus making it impure. We hope this helps!

How to clean? Tools allowed? Can I wash it in Dish Washer?

Is it Oven Safe?

Yes, Meyer Cast Iron Pans are oven safe & you can use them to bake & roast like you generally would with any baking pan in the oven.
Due to the exceptional heat retention & efficient heat spread it actually cooks the food a little better than normal baking pans. We hope this helps!

What is covered in warranty?

Meyer Cast Iron Pans come with a Limited Lifetime Warranty. The warranty covers any manufacturing defects in the pan. If manufacturing defect appears in a pan throughout the lifetime of the product, we shall pick up the defective piece from your home & replace it for you free of charge with a brand new one. We hope this helps!

What oil can be used for seasoning?

Seasoning is very essential for cast iron pans & it is a very easy process.
Check out this video to see it for yourself: http://bit.ly/seasoningcastiron

Or scan this QR code to see the video.

You can use all kinds of oils that you generally use for cooking with the exception of Sesame Oil, Flaxseed Oil & Refined Olive Oil. We hope this helps!

What tools can I use on cast-iron?

While cooking, you can use any kind of tools on the cast iron pan surface, However, we highly recommend using a silicone tool to increase the life of the pan & to avoid scraping off the seasoning layer that is protecting the pan from rusting.

While washing, we highly recommend the use of only liquid soap & sponge to clean the pan. Should there ever be any rusting on the surface of the pan, you should scrub only the rust affected area with a metal wool & then redo the seasoning process to protect it from rusting again. We hope this helps!

Why is the surface uneven / rough?

The uneven surface is a result of the sand casting process used while making the pan thus creating a finish that will allow the seasoning to adhere to it. Cast Iron Cookware only gets better & smoother with usage & seasoning. We hope this helps!

Stainless Steel Cookware Issues

My pan has white patches on it

The white patches on Stainless Steel cookware are formed due to deposition of minerals like calcium which are present in the water. This is not a manufacturing defect & is just an issue with the quality of water being used to clean the pot/pan. You can remove them by boiling a solution of 1 part vinegar to 3 parts water. Let it cool completely, then wash and dry the pan as usual. We hope this helps!

Food sticking to the pan / Food burning black residue

It is quite normal for food to stick on a Stainless Steel pan since it is uncoated & food is in contact with the bare metal surface. This is not a manufacturing defect therefore it isn’t covered under warranty.

To avoid food from sticking on the pan you can do the following:

Seasoning your Stainless Steel pan to make to perform like a Non-Stick pan. In case you are interested to see how to season your Stainless Steel cookware, you can check it out here: http://bit.ly/meyersteelseasoning.

Or scan this QR code to see the video.

We recommend using adequate amount of oil when cooking in your Stainless Steel pan to avoid food from sticking to your pan.

Food sticking to the pan generally leaves black residue behind which is often very hard to clean using normal soap & scrubbing pads.
Mostly all kinds of gunk & food deposits can be easily cleaned and the pan can be brought back to its original condition by using a simple solution of Baking Powder, Vinegar & Water. Check out this video below to see how to do it:

My Meyer Stainless Steel pan has Corrosion / Black Spots / Pitting in it

The presence of undissolved salt in a pan, mixed either with cold water or left after boil drying, can cause corrosion or pitting in a pan. Thereby, it is recommended that you add salt only after the water has reached its boiling point.

Having said this, we want to assure you that this is not a manufacturing defect & that pitting will not undermine the cooking performance of your pan. It will continue giving the same result, as long as you take other precautionary measures (as stated in the Use & Care manual). Should it affect the cooking performance of your pan, we shall replace it for you with a new pan. We hope this helps!

My Meyer Stainless Steel pan has a heat tint / bluish or reddish marks / discolouration in it

Heat tint is caused when you heat the pan at a high degree and don’t let it cool properly before washing it. Thick oxidised layer of chromium and air (oxygen) forms a protective layer which is also called the “Rainbow Effect”

Steps to clean:

  • Pour vinegar enough to cover the bottom of the cookware.
  • Wait for a couple of minutes, rub the affected area with soft sponge and rinse it thoroughly.
  • Wipe with dry cloth / tissue / paper towel.

Note:- No performance issue arises because of such stains, it is only the appearance which may be disliked, but it can easily be cleaned. This is not a manufacturing defect & is not covered under warranty. We hope this helps!

My pan warped / My pan’s shape has changed

When a pan is continuously heated or cooled rapidly, some parts of the pan expand or contract faster than other parts, and the stress that this uneven expansion and contraction puts on the pan causes it to warp. It can occur due to many reasons:

  • Rinsing hot pans with cold water
  • Overheating/ Dry Heating
  • Pan is too big for the burner

Solution: please ensure that there are no rapid temperature variations while using the cookware. Always cook on low-to-medium flame, allow the cookware to cool down before rinsing under water, and use a burner appropriate for the size of your cookware. We hope this helps!

My Meyer Stainless Steel pan’s handle gets too hot

Our Stainless Steel pans in the Meyer Select range have a cast Stainless Steel handle that is hollow & is fitted with silicone insert on the bottom to make it easier to handle & give you some grip.

However, over extended usage it tends to get a little hot and it is suggested that you use some kind of cloth or oven mitts to handle your cookware if you are going to be using the pan over extended period of time. We hope this helps!

The silicone insert on my stainless steel cookware came off

High-Grade Silicone is used to ensure that your handles are ‘always stay cool’. In an unlikely case, if the silicone insert is coming off of a freshly bought cookware it will be replaced under warranty.

However, if the silicone is subjected to daily wear and tear, is exposed to high temperature, harsh chemicals or sharp metallic objects, or is abused, it may get severely damaged and would not be covered under warranty. We hope this helps!

My Meyer pan fell & got dented / cracked / broken

Meyer cookware is made using highest manufacturing standards under the strictest quality controls, such that only the best pots and pans, free from any defects reach your kitchen. However in everyday usage if the cookware is dropped in the kitchen, or subject to abuse, it may cause dents/cracks on the cookware body or break the handle of the pan.

Accidental Damage is not covered under warranty. We request you to take proper care of your cookware as denting/cracking can severely reduce the performance of your cookware & can cause uneven heating of the cookware.

Should any problems arise due to manufacturing defects in the pan we will replace it for you during the warranty period of the pan. We hope this helps!

The base of my pan fell off

We are extremely sorry to hear that, but our Select range features an impact bonded base which are durable and efficient. No adhesive is used to attach the impact bonded base. As the name suggests these bases are attached using high levels of friction and pressure. As such the base is immune to such cases of failure.

The only cause for a base to fall would be continuously heating the cookware at very high temperatures that makes the bonding weak over time and causing the base to fall off. Such cases are not covered under warranty. Should something happen to the base as a result of a manufacturing defect, we will replace the pan for you. We hope this helps!
